Grace Upshaw

Lower Elementary Assistant

For as long as she can remember, Grace has been passionate about compassion and respect for children, especially in their education. After working with children in diverse settings for several years, she joined a nature education planning group that included two Montessori teachers. Curious, she researched the Montessori method and observed in local schools. She soon knew without a doubt that she, too, wanted to become a Montessori teacher. Assisting in MESA’s new lower elementary classroom is a dream come true!

When not teaching (or thinking or reading about teaching), Grace practices Middle Eastern percussion, old-time fiddle, and just about any kind of singing, dabbles in an assortment of foreign languages, crafts with materials from yarn to clay to kudzu vines, gets better acquainted with local birds and trees, and forgets to weed her gardens.
